Sorry folks, the recent days have been busy. The weekend proved to be full of highs and lows. HIGH: My mother (Gigi) and grandmother (Nama) were in town and we had a blast! LOW: Layna got a stomach virus (yuck!) and passed it along to Nicole and Nama (double yuck!). BUT, all are recovering well, and no signs of anything else (knock on wood).
I promise we'll have pictures very soon. Until then, I found this online and thought it was hilarious! (FYI - the first minute or so is all you need to watch...) Enjoy:

We're back!
Oh how I've missed you all! Sorry for the delay, but Nicole and I have been busy busy busy. We participated in a 4-day church retreat over last weekend and being gone so long has thrown our schedule way off. BUT, I'm happy to tell you that everything went very well and the kids had a great time at home with Mia!!
Mia brought a bunch of fun activities to do, but one of the things that the kids did on Monday was to make cake-pops! Mia brought a fun cake pan with her that makes little cupcake-size cakes in the shape of popsicles that you eat off a stick. So fun! Here are some pictures of the project:
Later that night, we iced and decorated the cake-pops with sprinkles. Believe it or not, it really works!
A BIG thank you to Mia for all her help over the weekend! Watching two kiddies for days and days isn't easy, so we really appreciate it! The kids already miss you, Mia!

School's Here!
We've just finished the second week of the new school year, so it's time I get the "first day" pictures up!
The kids are back at Saint Luke's Day School (where I work), but this year, Brayden's in for-real preschool! They're growing so quickly, especially when they take their Glamour Shots with their new lunch bags!
Brayden wasn't done posing... perhaps we watch too much Project Runway...
Although both kids enjoy school, Brayden's really been the one who's loved his class! He comes home every day with stories about his friends, what job he got to do that day (he was especially proud of being the line-leader!).
Some funny quotes from Brayden about school include (but are not limited to): (1) "Mama, Ms. Connie and Ms. Shaun say, 'Brayden, don't pick your nose!'" and (2) when he was telling us about painting, Nicole said, "You're such a great artist!" to which he replied, "No, Mama. I'm not an artist, I'm just Brayden." Too funny!

A Family Labor Day
We took full advantage of having a free day for all of us and did what any young family would do ...we went to the zoo! (I know, what a shock that we went to the zoo!) As always, we had a marvelous time. For whatever reason, the animals were more active today that usual, so the kids got a great show:
After visiting our other friends, it was time to take a ride on the train, then off to lunch. From there, we made it to the carousel... always a treat! (On the drive to the zoo this morning, Brayden always knew that he wanted to ride the manatee and that Layna "wanted" to ride the zebra...)
After a quick stroll down the boardwalk...
...we made it to the waterfall! This is such a fun little hidden place in the zoo, just across from the river otter exhibit (one of my favorites!). When we got to the waterfall, Layna came up to me and started pulling on her shirt, saying "Please, Dada, please!" I think this is what she wanted...
We ended the visit by playing in the fountains (B took a side trip...)

Painful Saturday
Poor Buggie, she's teething at least 3 (probably 4) teeth ...going on the 2nd full day of it, too. She's had all four of her first premolars (12-month) for months, but for whatever reason, she skipped all four of her canines. Now they're coming back to (wait for it...) bite her (no applause, please). She is not happy (seriously not happy).
Oh well, such is the life of a toddler. So, in celebration of new teeth (yay!), here are some funny pictures from the last week:

New Ride
A few weeks ago, we decided to trade in our clunker for some cash (aka. a minivan!!). Yes, friends, I finally took some pictures of the minivan. Can't believe we're now suburban minivan drivers? Believe. Here's the proof:
In all seriousness, we really love having a van. They kids absolutely love being able to climb in themselves (yes, Layna can do it by herself!) and "push the button" to close their own doors. That's cute, until we have to open the door again to strap them into their seats... details. Having a van will be a wonderful way to transport visitors, too -- so come visit!! You're all welcome!
