And.... we're back!

Friends, it's been quite awhile since we last saw one another. You've been missed!

We've been around and about doing all kinds of fun things, including Brayden's FIRST Birthday!! Thanks to all of you for your messages -- he really loved them. Brayden's birthday party was a success. He had such a great time and got a bunch of great gifts. Here are some of the highlights.

And of course, the best part of a kid's first birthday is the cake! Here's Brayden with the cake Nicole made (that's right -- Nicole MADE this cake with her own two hands, and it's fantastic!).

We had some great family fun, including swimming with all the boys among others. I have a bunch of great videos, but I can't edit them up until I get back to Alexandria (in a week) so for now, it's just pictures. Here are some of our baby Godson, Ethan Matthew:

Happy Birthday, little man. It's been a great year!

Stay tuned for a bunch of great pictures and stories from Montana -- it was a blast!

End of an era

Brayden is not huge on TV, although he does like a little Sesame Street or Family Feud. However, there is one show that will draw his attention EVERY (every) time it begins: Gilmore Girls. The theme song (click here to sample) is what really gets him. Ever since he was only a couple months old, the theme song would grab him no matter what he was doing. Seriously, he could be having the most fun in the world, and when Carole King starts singing, it's all over. In fact, that song is his absolute favorite.

Why am I bringing this up today? Easy -- tonight was the series finale of the Gilmore Girls. Now, most of you won't care much that the series is over (obviously, since it wasn't drawing the crowd it needed to continue). However, I want to stress the goodness of the GG. If you've never watched it, I commend it to you as one of the best feel-good shows ever. It's a show that makes you happy to be watching TV. As a new fan (only this year) I have to admit I'm sad to see it go (particularly as I consider the real and true trash that is growing ever more popular --- I Love New York... you know what I mean).

Anyway, we're busy preparing to leave for Florida on Thursday. What does that mean for us -- vacation!! What does that mean for you -- fewer posts. We hope to continue to post while we're away from home, but in case we aren't able, know we still love you and haven't forgotten about you.

Until then, remember it's Brayden's birthday on the 22nd -- One Year Old!! Yahoo!

And... since I know you love pictures, here are a couple from the park yesterday (celebrating the end of exams!):

Closing Time

It's the end of the year, and with that comes lots of end-of-the-year parties. The VTS Middler Class held an Ocho de Mayo party (coincidentally on the 8th) last week. Brayden had a ball getting messy in the freshly cut grass:

And he was able to play with his older friend, fellow soon-to-be-PK, TJ:

Good luck to all the students out there as you come into the home stretch. I'm with you!

It's Spring!

Even though it's spring, I don't have any pictures of Brayden outside... but they're coming. Nicole takes him to the park faithfully every day. I'm sure we can swing a few photos. Until then, take a gander at the beautiful azaleas just outside our apartment (and all over Virginia!):

And, of course, our beautiful little man (he's playing on his walking toy, converted into a riding toy... multi-tasking!):
